The Quartier Heidestrasse development in Europacity is fast approaching completion. The topping-out wreath now sits above the shell of QH Crown South, the first stage of QH Crown, the two-part building complex that forms Quartier Heidestrasse's northern end.

Located directly on Heidestrasse and with views of Nordhafen, the northern harbour, QH Crown is the final section of the mixed-use neighbourhood to be built. Initial construction of Quartier Heidestrasse began at the southern end of the site with QH Spring and QH Core, which are both now completed. The QH Crown complex consists of two stand-alone buildings on Nordhafen that will provide 15,071 sqm GFA of space for offices and 4,940 sqm GFA for retail, food and dining.

The internationally renowned and award-winning firm gmp Architekten is responsible for the modern architecture, including bright façades accented by bronze and brass railings.

Future-proofed through diversity and innovation
"Today, we are not only celebrating the completion of a new building shell in Europacity but also the final steps toward the completion of Quartier Heidestrasse," said Thomas Bergander, Managing Director of Taurecon Real Estate Consulting, at the topping-out ceremony.
"Our vision for this 8.5-hectare site of a mixed-use neighbourhood typical of Berlin, with sustainable modern architecture combined with innovative digital networking, an approach designed to future-proof the neighbourhood, is now fast becoming a reality.

The southern part of Quartier Heidestrasse is already filled with life, and the unique urban planning concept behind QH Track, the office complex along our western edge, becomes more apparent by the day. And QH Crown on the new square near Nordhafen is becoming a visual focus for the area both architecturally and in terms of location."

Hans Joachim Paap, Associate Partner of Berlin firm gmp Architekten also attended the ceremony: "It is a great pleasure for us to be involved in this visionary project with our design for QH Crown. Quartier Heidestrasse exhibits the full diversity of modern architecture — but with a unity of form. We also wanted to take this unifying quality into our design while at the same time responding to the exposed location on Nordhafen with elegance and lightness."

QH Crown South is scheduled for completion in 2023. QH Crown North and the new Nordhafen square are scheduled for completion in 2024.

Quartier Heidestrasse: Smart, Sustainable Living and Working
Quartier Heidestrasse is a mixed-use neighbourhood currently under development on an
8.5-hectare site in the heart of Berlin. The project will integrate modern living and working in all their myriad forms: The development comprises six sub-projects with a combined total of around 295,000 sqm GFA, which will include 266,350 sqm GFA for office and residential use and 28,650 sqm GFA for retail, food and dining, a hotel, and a day-care centre.

While tenants began moving into QH Core, the centrepiece of the neighbourhood, in January 2021, the entire development is not due for completion until 2024.
